Things to do in Port Renfrew

If you don’t feel like cooking, you have some great local restaurant options, including The Renfrew Pub, Bridgeman’s West Coast Eatery, Coastal Kitchen Café and Tomi’s Home Cooking, all a short walk away. The local General Store is about a 1km walk along Parkinson Rd and has a small selection of groceries, beer, wine and a cash machine. It’s a good idea to stock up on groceries on your way to Port Renfrew either in Sooke on your way from Victoria or in Lake Cowichan.
Surf the coast

The list of activities in Port Renfrew are endless; experience some of the best hiking the west coast has to offer including the West Coast trail and Juan de Fuca trails. Visit some of Canada’s tallest trees at Avatar Grove. Explore tide pools and an incredible shelf beach by walking the trail down to Botanical Beach. Watch the ocean from the comfort of the cottage, or walk down to the Harbour, and watch the boats come and go from the Bridgeport Restaurant. After that you can explore along the waters edge and walk to beach camp, finding yourself combing the sand beaches along the way. If you have children pop over to the community playground in beach camp for some playground fun. Port Renfrew also has surfing, as does nearby Sombrio (worth the drive, a beautiful cobblestone bay that offers hiking and exploring). Other activities you can do in Port Renfrew include kayaking, boating, whale watching, storm watching and world class fishing.
